During my week at the school of BEES I took part in many activities and learned lots of new facts and information from lecturers and students! Everyone was very helpful and had no problem in answering any questions I had.

One activity that I really enjoyed was the work shop with the postgrads.

One activity that I really enjoyed was the work shop with the postgrads. I was in Eugene’s group. First he showed us the special cameras that they use to spot animals, they have a special flash and sensor which detects when the animal is there. Then he went on to tell us about the tunnels that have been built under the motorways so that animals can cross safely, we got to see pictures of animals such as, badgers and foxes in the tunnels. I found it very interesting to see how each of the animals reacted differently! Then later on we decided to go outside (despite the weather conditions!) and collect the cameras that Eugene had put out prior to the workshop. We collected all the cameras and then took them back to the lab to see if there had been any activity. On the first camera there was a fox, the second one had nothing and on the third one the same fox reappeared. I really enjoyed this activity and found it very interesting!

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my week here in the school of BEES and would strongly recommend the course to any third year students entering into transition year next year!
