University College Cork has a long and distinguished history of research and teaching of ‘Natural History’.
From the appointment of the first Professor of Natural History, Prof. William Hincks in 1849 to the formation of the School of BEES in 2010, the study of the natural world has been central to UCC’s remit.
One element of the study of Natural History at UCC which is still very evident is the collection of important and historic tree species planted on the University campus.
You can read a short history of the Trees in UCC on the BEES website.
You can also view a unique interactive map of significant trees on Campus by clicking here.
